Review of Joost

I haven’t recevied an invite, so I’m not speaking from personal experience, but I’ve heard many discussing their experience.

This sounds great and is a great idea, but my understanding is that they have very little content yet. John C. Dvorak did a review and there are many comments regarding this.
Granted, Dvorak is notoriously a cynic, so you have to take this review with a grain of salt, but it’s worth taking at look at it.

Apparently, the content is limited, They don’t have a client for Linux or Mac (although I think they’re doing a Mac version), and the format is too much like broadcast TV.

What they mean by this last comment is that using channels of preprogrammed content doesn’t give the user enough ability to control what they view.  Contrast that with Youtube where the user has ultimate control of each and every track they view.

I’m sure they’ll be building out their content offerings, but, so far, it doesn’t seem like an enticing enough service.
