South Korean president offers condolences

The president of South Korea has offered condolences, but is also very concerned that Americans will blame the South Korean community for this tragedy.

I really wish he was just being paranoid, but I don’t think so. I think he has valid reasons for concern. I think American society has come a long way in its acceptance of other cultures. However, I also think there are plenty of small groups who will see this as an opportunity to spread their hate.

We’ll have to see what happens over the next few months, but I think that if you’re a South Korean immigrant, you have reason to be at least a little concerned.

I think this shooter should be seen as a disturbed individual who committed a despicable act. I don’t, however, think that we can rationally infer any guilt on the South Korean people, or even his family. They have done nothing wrong except to try to make a better life for themselves.

  1. Although this was a very tragic and heart breaking incident, the Korean people should not blame themselves based on the race of the shooter.

The gun did not decide to kill the people nor did his race. This individual was mentally disturbed and decided to kill people for whatever reason.

We will never know what drove him to do such a horrific event and the level of hatred in his heart will never be identified.

The korean people must understand that the US citizens do not hold the Korean race at fault. We appreciate all of their comments and support for those who were loss in this tragic incident.

    Kind Regards,
